Air Dust Odour | Chartered Air Quality Assessment Professionals
Article by Air Dust Odour's Head of Business Development Tom Pickup, for the Air Dust Odour Blog
When choosing a supplier for Air Quality Assessments, due diligence is key. Here are our recommended steps when checking out a company:
Any individual within a business signing off any Air Quality Assessment should be at least a full member of the Institute of Air Quality Management, and ideally a Chartered professional, either a Chartered Environmentalist of a Chartered Scientist, which can be checked on the Society for the Environment’s Registrant Directory (click here). This is considered to the best standards of practice within the industry.
To search for this, request that a prospective supplier of an Air Quality Assessment provides the forename, surname, body of registration and registration level, then use this information to search for them on the Registrant Directory (click here).
Air Dust Odour’s Founder Malcolm Pounder is registered via the Chartered Institute of Environmental Sciences, as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).
Any business undertaking an Air Quality Assessment should at least have professional indemnity insurance, and if on-site work is required they should also have public liability insurance. This is important because it they misadvise you and you incur financial loss, their insurance should cover it the business can’t/doesn’t. You can request a copy of these from a potential supplier to ensure that they are both insured and the value of their cover.
Air Dust Odour are fully insured to undertake all our services.
Businesses should always be able to provide you with a no obligation free quotation before you agree to proceed with it.
A realistic quotation for an Air Quality Screening Assessment is in the region of £750-£1,200, depending on the amount of work involved.
Full Air Quality Assessments are more complex, so costs can vary and can cost a lot more than an Air Quality Screening Assessment, depending on the size and complexity of the modelling that is required. The amount of modelling work involved will heavily influence the amount quoted. Modelling will always be required in a full Air Quality Assessment.
If a business is quoting you more than that, it’s best practice to ask them why their charges are high, what work is involved to justify their fee and to get a second opinion and alternative quotation.
Air Dust Odour are fully transparent about their quotations and justify them by explaining the work involved to all our potential clients, we always fully support our clients when they consult with other industry professionals, as we are committed to fair prices and best practices, and it helps us to combat potential advice being given out within the industry that is not up to best practices.
When receiving a quotation, you should also get a copy of the business’s terms and conditions and contract with you and read it carefully. We’re always happy to provide consultation to clients if they have any concerns about the terms or contract when dealing with other business’s within the industry.
When we quote customers, Air Dust Odour always send a copy of our T’s and C’s along with a contract for you to sign.
